JUNE 20: Solstice Gāyatrī Fire Ceremony (SQUAMISH, BC)
Friday, June 20, 7:00 – 9:30pm
Shala Yoga, Squamish, BC

Join us for a sacred gathering to celebrate the Summer Solstice (Friday) and International Day of Yoga (Saturday) — a powerful time to align with the light, both within and around us.
We will gather around the sacred fire for a Gāyatrī Fire Ceremony, honouring the yogic deity known as Goddess Gāyatrī — the radiant power behind the sun, Mother of the yogic scriptures known as the Vedas, and embodiment of Divine Wisdom. She is the force that dispels fear, awakens clarity, and strengthens our connection to truth, devotion, and inner strength.
Together we will chant the Gāyatrī Mantra 108 times — one of the most ancient and sacred mantras in the yogic tradition. This luminous prayer clears the mind, opens the heart, and illuminates our inner vision. It helps us make discerning, heart-led choices that align with love, unity, and soul purpose.
The Gāyatrī Mantra also harmonizes the nervous system, calms the mind, improves breath and focus, and supports overall well-being.
We meditate on that wondrous spirit of the Divine Solar Light
which shines in every dimension of life.
May that Light inspire and guide our inner vision.
~ A Gāyatrī Mantra
*We will explore further translations together.
This ceremony includes:
- 108 rounds of the Gāyatrī Mantra
- Sacred fire offerings and storytelling
- Practice with Gāyatrī yantra and mudra
- Reflections on Gāyatrī’s teachings and wisdom
- Anointment with the activated charcoal and sacred Ganges water from India
- Prasad (sweet offering) to honour the essence of the ritual
Bring your sankalpa (ceremony intention) and immerse in the light of Goddess Gāyatrī this Solstice, together in sacred community. All are welcome.
This offering is rooted in Bhakti Yoga and the Vedic/Yogic lineage of Satya’s ancestors from North India. She was born and raised in Squamish, BC.
“The Gāyatrī Mantra releases the supreme solar power, the power of the inner sun of Self-realization and Cosmic creation. As we chant the mantra, we tune into the frequencies of universal light and bring it down to the earth plane (“bhuh”) and ourselves/humanity. This mantra asks that the radiance of the sun illuminate our minds and with the light of wisdom, guide us on the path toward awakening.”
Background on Ceremony
In ceremony, we sit in circle, we hold our intention, we chant, we pray, we offer, we surrender. Together, we hold this charged space co-creatively. We invoke and commune with very subtle sacred energies – the deities (aka: spirits/goddess/Creator – or whatever you call Source). The fire of wisdom burns away all that does not serve. Ultimately, this holy fire transforms, purifies, cleanses and heals.
Using the agency of fire inside a copper vessel, and connecting with the biodynamic rhythm of Mother Earth while we chant – the Vedic Fire Ceremony serves as a direct portal to the deities. It is one of the most ancient forms of ritual in the world, originating from Satya’s ancestral land of India some 10,000 years ago. It was channelled by rishis and seers in the high Indian Himalayas. It serves as an altar to the Divine – and a space for healing, emotional purification, karmic cleansing, and deep transformation. It is a symbol of that which we are (Satya/Truth), and that which we are not (Mitya/not-Truth). It is a ceremony that re-patterns trauma, and a sacred space where we can let go of everything that is keeping us separate, including fear and attachment. ॐ
*This ceremony is also known as agni yajna, fire puja, and havan.
