NOV. 26: Awakening Creative Power ~ A Saraswati Day Retreat

We will gather on a stunning 100-acre organic farm on the traditional unceded territory of the Hul’q’umi’num’ and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples, to explore and discover ancient yogic practices from India to invoke Goddess Saraswati’s blessings.

Join Satya (Vedic Priestess Temple) and Hanna (Hanna Munneke Yoga) for a full day of practice, contemplation, workshop, storytelling and ceremony.

Saraswati is the power of creation, speech, wisdom, and flow in the world around us. We will learn traditional practices and inquiry techniques that tune us into her blessings, and help us to become aware of her shadow side, including judgment, criticism, doubt, and fear. We will explore removing the obstacles that get in the way of our own creative power and wisdom, and encourage their abundant flow.

Stowel Lake Farm is surrounded by beautiful forests, fields and rolling hills, in the Southern Gulf Islands.

A delicious Indian lunch will be served by Omja Catering.

You are so welcome.

This is the second in our Living Shakti Series: Bringing the Teachings of the Goddess into Everyday Life.

YOUR FACILITATORS

Satya Amrita Kumari Jehman (Vedic Priestess Temple)

Born into the Vedic lineage, Satya has been living the traditional path of yoga all her life – with a more concentrated practice over the last 20 years. She comes from a line of Durga (mother of Saraswati) devotees on her maternal line. Satya carries the gift of fire ceremony and ritual by the grace of her ancestors. She completed a year-long Yoga Apprenticeship in 2015 (Vijnana Yoga RYT200), and a deep dive study into jnana yoga (Vedic scripture study/self inquiry) with her teacher in India amid a trio of winters, over a decade ago. Satya offers from the deepest place in her with utmost respect and reverence to her ancestors, to You, to the Divine, and to the Self (Pure Awareness) – for the greater good of the Whole.
She offers ceremony, workshops, retreats and one-on-one support at www.vedicpriestesstemple.com.

Hanna Munneke (Hanna Munneke Yoga)

Hanna Munneke fell in love with yoga as a young mother. Practice became her centre point amidst the beautiful chaos of raising three children. After completing a Yoga Apprenticeship, she was certified as a Vijnana Yoga RYT800. She’s been teaching on Salt Spring Island since 2015, and has recently taught on the Caribbean island of Grenada. “I love how yoga creates space in the body and mind, helping our vitality and wisdom to flow…I love how yoga is a process, and an inquiry that each of us can experience uniquely.” – Hanna

Expect to build strength and softness in her offerings, while exploring the principles of quiet mind, relaxed body, breathing, rooting, connection, expansion and intent. All of her offerings start with a short meditation and pranayama (breath work).
Hanna offers weekly yoga classes on Salt Spring Island @hannamunnekeyoga.

YOUR CHEF

Naomi Singh (Omja Catering)

Prior to moving to Salt Spring Island in 2008 to begin the journey of motherhood, Naomi worked for global aviation leaders. Both in commercial and military sectors. After the birth of her second daughter Kilaya, she realized she was “not cut out for the stay at home mom thing”. She then entered her first Saturday market, where she sold raw baklava, raw cheese cake, and samosas. Since then Naomi has grown into a successful local caterer and private chef here on Salt Spring.

“The love of food is more than its smell, flavours and colour. It’s the nourishment our bodies get from a meal made with love that nurtures the soul.” – Naomi

“Coming together in circle was one of the most impactful things about the retreat. The time to share considerations from the carefully crafted questions and be in ritual together. I really appreciated and felt Satya’s direct lineage to the teachings she shared. Hanna and Satya created a strong and at the same time gentle presence. The food was delicious!” – Tali H

“I loved everything about the retreat: the learning, the discussion, the ceremony and chanting, the yoga, the lunch, the location. Thanks so much for this wonderful retreat. It was exactly what I needed!” – Lesley G

“I loved the integration of a formal traditional practice with an open, easy-going manner. And also the integration of philosophy with reflection-practice, and with asana. I have been time-crunched in recent weeks, and so I found it glorious to take a day off to focus on deeper realities.” – Peter R

“I appreciated the opportunity to gather, the food, the thoughtful reflection questions. Sincere gratefulness. As always after introducing a new practice or delving deeper into the connection with the divine, I feel full and peaceful.” – Jenny R
