FLOW FROM YOUR POWER: A DURGĀ DAY RETREAT

We are so grateful to gather again at the stunning Stowel Lake Farm, on the traditional unceded territory of the Hul’q’umi’num’ and SENĆOŦEN speaking peoples, to explore and discover ancient yogic practices from India to invoke Goddess Durgā’s blessings.

Join Satya (Vedic Priestess Temple) and Hanna (Hanna Munneke Yoga) for a full day of practice, contemplation, workshop, storytelling and ceremony.

Durgā is the Universal Mother; a fiercely compassionate warrior of unconditional love. She is the force of power, protection, courage, strength, and fearlessness in ourselves, and the world around us. She supports us to cut through illusions, move through our inner and outer struggles, and restore harmony and balance within ourselves, and in the world.

We will learn traditional practices and inquiry techniques that tune us into her gifts, and also help us to become aware of her shadow side in us, supporting us to confront our inner battles that may include self-limiting beliefs, blind spots and self sabotage. We will explore removing obstacles that prevent us from accessing our deepest power, and learn practices that encourage its flow.

We will gather on the eve of New Moon and Spring Equinox, just before the festival of Navratri  – nine days devoted to the Sacred Divine Feminine. Participants will leave empowered with a practice to harness and celebrate this deeply auspicious time.

Stowel Lake Farm is just 5 minutes from the Fulford Harbour ferry terminal on Salt Spring Island, BC. A delicious Indian lunch will be served by Omja Catering. All are welcome.

This is the third retreat in our Living Shakti Series: Bringing the Teachings of the Goddess into Everyday Life.

YOUR FACILITATORS

Satya Amrita Kumari Jehman (Vedic Priestess Temple)

Born into the Vedic lineage, Satya has been living the traditional path of yoga all her life – with a more concentrated practice over the last 20+ years. She comes from a line of Durga devotees on her maternal line. Satya carries the gift of fire ceremony and ritual by the grace of her ancestors. She completed a year-long Yoga Apprenticeship in 2015 (Vijnana Yoga RYT200), and a deep dive study into jnana yoga (Vedic scripture study/self inquiry) with her teacher in India amid a trio of winters, over a decade ago.

Satya is a facilitator of Retreats, Workshops, Ceremony, Ritual  & One-on-One Guide on Salt Spring Island and surrounding communities, in India – as well as online. She offers from the deepest place in her with utmost respect and reverence to her ancestors, to You, to the Divine, and to the Self.

Hanna Munneke (Hanna Munneke Yoga)

Hanna fell in love with yoga as a young mother. Practice became her centre point amidst the beautiful chaos of raising 3 children. After completing a 3 year yoga apprenticeship, she was certified as a Vijnana Yoga RYT800. Hanna is deeply grateful to her teacher Cathy Valentine, and to the lineage of yogic sciences and spiritual traditions of India for this gift that gives her new life every day.

She has been teaching Yoga and Tensegrity Repair classes on Salt Spring Island since 2015, and has recently taught on the Caribbean island of Grenada. She has also been attending and assisting Vedic fire ceremonies with Vedic Priestess Temple for the last 7 years.

Hanna loves how yoga and ceremony create space in the body and mind, helping our fresh vitality and wisdom to flow. She loves how yoga is a process, and an inquiry that each of us can experience uniquely. Expect to build strength and softness in her classes, while exploring the many principles and dimensions of our inner space.

YOUR CHEF

Naomi Singh (Omja Catering)

Prior to moving to Salt Spring Island in 2008 to begin the journey of motherhood, Naomi worked for global aviation leaders. Both in commercial and military sectors. After the birth of her second daughter Kilaya, she realized she was “not cut out for the stay at home mom thing”. She then entered her first Saturday market, where she sold raw baklava, raw cheese cake, and samosas. Since then Naomi has grown into a successful local caterer and private chef here on Salt Spring.

“The love of food is more than its smell, flavours and colour. It’s the nourishment our bodies get from a meal made with love that nurtures the soul.” – Naomi

“Coming together in circle was one of the most impactful things about the retreat. The time to share considerations from the carefully crafted questions and be in ritual together.
