On the Path of the Goddess: A Sacred Journey into Ancient India ~ February 2027

In February 2027 I invite you to join me for a women’s journey through the living body of the Goddess, across Northeast India’s sacred Shakti Pīṭhas – the ancient living “seats” of the Divine Feminine.

Each temple we visit is said to mark the place where a body part of the Goddess fell to Earth in ancient times – powerful centres alive with centuries of devotion and Shakti, divine feminine energy.

Across India, 51 such sites form a sacred geography of the Divine Mother – a living map of her body and presence.

Sanctified by thousands of years of devotion, mantra, and ritual, these temples hold the living presence of Shakti – inviting each pilgrim to step into her power, her grace, and her love.

As we travel from temple to temple, you’ll be invited beyond witnessing and into relationship – to feel the living pulse of each sacred site and how its ancient currents of creation, nourishment, protection, and fierce love flow within you. Through this embodied remembrance, the journey itself becomes a re-patterning of body, mind and the more subtle layers of self – a return to the divine feminine intelligence that shapes your being, awakening the Living Shakti that has always been you.

Through elemental practices, temple rituals, embodied movement, storytelling, self-inquiry, and reflection, we will weave pilgrimage and practice as one living prayer. Each site becomes a mirror for your own being – a return to the divine feminine intelligence within.

Due to the high frequency of these sacred places, many describe the experience as one of deep awakening – a return to the source of their own feminine power, a reconnection to ancestral wisdom, and an embodied remembrance that the Goddess has never been outside of them.

The Goddess will be our guide.

The sacred earth of Mother India will be our teacher.

Join me as we walk upon the Goddess’s body, remembering your own.

This is more than travel.
It is initiation.
It is remembrance.
It is a return to the Sacred Feminine – to Yourself.

Kolkata, West Bengal

We begin our journey in Kolkata, one of the great matriarchal centres of Mother India, where the Sacred Divine Feminine is woven into every gesture of daily life. Here, the Goddess is not worshipped from afar – She is mother, protector, and power embodied. We will open our pilgrimage with ceremony.

Our gentle India immersion begins in Kumartuli, the centuries-old potters’ colony where artisans craft clay goddesses with devotion all year long. From there, we journey to the serene west banks of the Hooghly River to visit Belur Math – the home of Saint Ramakrishna and his consort, Sarada Devi, whose lives were a living testament to devotion and Divine Union with Goddess Kali. Afterwards we will visit two of the most powerful Kali temples on Earth – potent sites where Shakti is both fierce and compassionate, mother and liberator.

Through West Bengal

From this living heart of Shakti, we travel through West Bengal, visiting four more ancient Shakti Pīṭhas – the powerful centres of the Divine Feminine where the body of the Goddess has fallen to Earth in ancient times – reflecting the many faces of the Feminine within and around us – forming a sacred geography of the Divine Feminine across the subcontinent.

Assam

Our pilgrimage then continues into Assam, just below the Himalayan range, where we will visit the revered Kāmākhyā Temple, also known as the Bleeding Goddess Temple, where her Yoni touched the Earth, one of the most potent sites of feminine power on Earth. We will also visit a number of other shakti temples including the Dasha Mahavidyas Tantric Goddess Temples.

Meghalaya

We will close our pilgrimage with our final Shakti Temple visit in Meghalaya – hidden jewel of Mother India’s northeast – a lush, mystical land of living forests, cascading waterfalls, sacred lakes, and ancient caves where nature herself feels alive and breathing. This will be a space of rest, integration, and renewal through nature immersion, local Khasi and Ayurvedic treatment options, and a sacred closing circle. Along with daily practice, this experience invites your body, mind and spirit to absorb the pilgrimage’s teachings and blessings.

Across India, sacred sites known as the Shakti Pīṭhas mark the very places where the body of the Divine Feminine, in the form of Sati, fell to Earth – her presence becoming the living map of the land itself.

In a sovereign act of refusal, Goddess Sati withdrew her embodied form when the Feminine principle was dishonoured, choosing integrity over participation in a world that denied her Truth. As her grieving consort, Shiva, carried her body through the Cosmos – the Cosmos shook intensely.

To restore Cosmic balance, Vishnu was appointed to release his sudarshana chakra (discus), dispersing fragments of her body across the Earth. Each place became infused with Shakti – creative life force – anchoring the Goddess into soil, stone, and memory.

Goddess Sati does not end. She multiplies.
The Feminine does not disappear under patriarchal rejection – She embeds herself everywhere, irreducible and uncontainable.
Even in leaving, She claims the world.

To visit a Shakti Pīṭha – infused with thousands of years of  shakti devotion – is not merely to witness an ancient story, but to step into a living field of remembrance. These temples awaken what has been forgotten: the body as sacred, power as relational, devotion as embodied truth.

To visit them is to literally walk upon the body of the Divine Mother – to move through her energy, her story, and her remembrance.

Walking the Shakti Pīṭhas is not simply travel; it is pilgrimage, initiation, and remembrance.

  • You desire to travel in Mother India in a safe, intimate circle of women held in reverence, belonging, and shared devotion.
  • You wish to experience India not as a tourist, but as a shakti devotee walking sacred ground.
  • You feel the quiet call to return – to your sacred calling, your truth, your remembering.

  • Led by an Indian woman born in the West, bridging ancestral lineage, cultural heritage and lived experience.
  • Intimate circle of 12 participants to ensure safety, depth, and personal attention.
  • Integration and embodied practice most days, that will be aligned with the five elements we will be immersed in at different points in the journey, and the shakti temples we will visit during our pilgrimage.
  • Experience of authentic Indian culture and cuisine alongside sacred pilgrimage with an experienced guide who speaks the local language.
  • A once-in-a-lifetime spiritual journey that is not mainstream tourism on the tourist trodden path of India. Rather, it is a sacred immersion into Living Shakti – the kind of journey that will transform you forever.

Satya Amrita Kumari Jehman (Vedic Priestess Temple)

Born into a Vedic and Yogic lineage with a maternal line devoted to Goddess Durgā, Satya has walked the traditional path of yoga all her life – with a dedicated sādhanā spanning more than 25 years. The unbroken thread of devotion, protection, and fierce love carried by her foremothers infuses everything she offers – from retreat and ritual to the embodied wisdom of Shakti.

Satya’s work bridges East and West, lineage and lived experience. For the past 25 years, she has returned regularly to India – the land of her ancestral roots – for immersive periods of study and pilgrimage in Yogic and Vedic ways of being, fire ceremony, and the Divine Feminine practice immersion.

Initiated into the Sidh Kunjika Stotram – the highest invocation of Maha Shakti – in 2016, Satya’s devotion to the Goddess deepened profoundly following her mother’s sudden passing. Guided by two teachers in North India, she apprenticed in Vedic fire ceremony and now carries these sacred practices forward as living rituals of remembrance and renewal. Having stepped into an eldership role of her lineage in her early 40s following the complicated passing of her father, she continues to honour and bridge lineage teachings with reverence and devotion.

Satya is a certified Vijnana Yoga teacher (200-hour), trained in Trauma-Informed and Transformational Leadership through Outward Bound, and brings over 25 years of experience facilitating retreats, pilgrimages, and transformational programs across Asia, Africa, North America, and the Caribbean.

Fluent in Hindi and Punjabi and deeply connected to the cultural and spiritual roots of her homeland, Satya offers a grounded and heart-centred bridge between ancient wisdom and the western world. Her guidance is shaped by respect, safety, and deep listening – creating spaces where women can soften, awaken, and remember their innate connection to the Great Goddess, Maha Shakti.

Satya offers from the deepest place within her – in gratitude to her ancestors, to You, to the Divine, and to the Self. OM.

Please kindly first read through the Frequently Asked Questions listed below.

If your question has not been answered there, please do not hesitate to contact Satya, I am happy to answer any further questions.

What is pilgrimage?
In Sanskrit, pilgrimage is called Yatra – a sacred journey undertaken for spiritual awakening and liberation. Unlike tourism, where travel seeks pleasure or entertainment typically on a tourist trodden path, Yatra is a spiritual practice – a conscious return to what is most sacred, within and around us.

Who is this pilgrimage for?
This journey is open to 12 women-identifying folks who feel called to go deeper into their connection with the Divine Feminine, and who are called to the sacred land of Mother India. No prior yoga, spiritual, or India travel experience is required – only an open heart and sincere intention. Scroll up for a full list of who this pilgrimage is for.

What makes this pilgrimage unique?
Unlike most Goddess pilgrimages in India that are led by western women, this journey is led by an Indian woman born and raised in the West – bridging cultures, language, and life-long lived devotion. It’s an intimate homecoming through lineage, belonging, and authentic connection.

What are Shakti Pīṭhas?
They are ancient temples marking where the body of the Goddess is said to have fallen to Earth. Each is a powerful energetic centre devoted to a specific aspect of shakti – creation, compassion, protection, or transformation.

Where will we travel?
We begin in Kolkata, the beating heart of the Mother, and journey through West Bengal to four shakti temples before travelling into Assam to the revered Kamakhya Temple – the “bleeding goddess.” Our pilgrimage concludes in Meghalaya for stunning nature immersion, rest, and integration.

What can I expect each day?
We’ll weave embodied yogic practices most days with visits to sacred sites, temple rituals, supportive reflection circles, and elemental offerings. There will also be time for rest, exploration, and connection.

How many participants will there be?
Spaces are limited to 12 women-identifying participants to maintain intimacy, safety, and deep personal guidance throughout the journey.

Is it safe to travel in India?
Yes. Satya has travelled and lived extensively in India for decades, and she’s working closely with trusted local partners to ensure your safety and comfort throughout the pilgrimage.

What kind of accommodations can I expect?
We will stay in 4-5 star hotels – to prioritize cleanliness and safety. They are chosen for their proximity to temples and natural beauty. (Note: 3 star ratings in India vary in comparison to western standards, so to ensure a comfortable, pleasant stay, we have chosen 4-5 star hotels to offer a soft, gentle space to rest and integrate after each day out.)

How should I prepare for the journey?
You’ll receive a detailed preparation guide covering travel logistics, packing, cultural etiquette, and more, three months prior to our start date. We’ll also hold an online pre-departure gathering to help you ground your intention and answer logistical questions.

What will I gain from this pilgrimage?
This is more than travel – it’s a sacred initiation. You’ll return with a deeper connection to the Goddess, to your feminine power, and to a living sense of belonging that continues to guide your daily life long after you return home.

What is included in the pilgrimage cost?
All in-country accommodations, daily breakfast and dinners, group transportation, temple offerings, guided practices, and entrance fees are included. International airfare and personal expenses are not included. For full details, please review the WHAT’S INCLUDED AND WHAT’S NOT section above.

What is the physical activity level required?
Moderate. We’ll be walking on temple grounds, uneven terrain sometimes, and natural settings. Integrative movement practices for all levels most days will help keep your body grounded and attuned.

What kind of food will be served?
You’ll enjoy nourishing, locally prepared Indian vegetarian breakfast and dinners. Special dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice. Please note this on your registration form at the time of booking and confirming your spot.

Do I need a visa or vaccinations?
An e-tourist visa is required for most travellers to India. We’ll provide guidance on how to apply and what to expect. Please consult your healthcare provider or local travel clinic regarding recommended vaccinations or travel medicine, at your discretion.

How do I get from where the pilgrimage concludes (Cheerapunji, Meghalaya) – back to Kolkata to catch my international flight home?
We can support you to connect with a reliable road transport service from Cheerapunji to Shillong (about 1:45 travel time). Then you will book a domestic flight from Shillong to Kolkata (about 1:45 travel time) which can easily be located on Google Flights. Note: Presently there is one direct flight per day on IndiGo Airlines.
If you want more flexible flight timings, we can help you book road travel from Cherapunji, Meghalaya to Guwahati, Assam (about 4 hours). Then you will book a flight from Guwahati to Kolkata. Presently at the time of writing this, there are about 41 flights per day on this route, providing the most flexibility.

How do I reserve my spot and what is the payment schedule?
A non-refundable deposit of $1000 CAD secures your space. The remaining balance can be paid in installments leading up to departure. See above for the payment schedule. The balance of payment is due 90 days before departure, November 14, 2026.

What is the cancellation/refund policy?
Full refund minus $1000 CAD non-refundable deposit before October 13, 2026.
50% refund, minus $1000 CAD non-refundable deposit between October 14 – November 13, 2026.
No refunds will be offered after November 14, 2026.
Nor can registrations be transferred to another person after November 14, 2026.

What is the value and structure of the pricing?
Our pricing reflects a balance between accessibility, ethical travel, and the depth of this pilgrimage. Comparable women’s goddess tours to India – largely led by western women, based in one location, and using basic accommodations- typically range from $4,000-$6,000 USD. We have intentionally positioned this pilgrimage at the lower end of that spectrum while offering a far more comprehensive, high-quality, and lineage-rooted experience.

Your investment includes all ground costs across seven sacred locations: 4-5 star hotels to support a comfortable stay, one internal flight, all private ground transportation, breakfasts and dinners at our 4-5 star hotels, entrance fees, ceremonial materials, cultural guides, temple donations, and integrative practice most days such as asana yoga, pranayama, meditation, storytelling, reflective writing, and lots of temple ritual. With a maximum of 12 participants, the journey prioritizes safety, spaciousness, and personalized support.

This pilgrimage is guided by an Indian woman born and raised in the West who carries over 25 years of travel, cultural fluency, language familiarity, and lived connection to her ancestral homeland. This allows participants to experience India off the beaten path, with authenticity, care, and respect for the land, lineage, and communities we engage with.

The program investment reflects the integrity, quality, and transformative nature of this sacred journey – far beyond what is offered in mainstream yoga tourism and led by non-Indian/South Asian folks.

*If your questions have not been answered above, please kindly write Satya, she is happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
