SEPT. 19: Letting go ~ An Autumn equinox fire ceremony

Just as the trees release what they no longer need, the Autumn Equinox offers us a sacred threshold to put down what has run its course – old beliefs, patterns, attachments, relationships, identities, or simply the relentless pace of summer.

Through ceremony, breathwork, mantra, prayer, and reflection – we will enter the wisdom of this seasonal transition. Drawing on the yogic teaching of aparigraha – non-possessiveness – and the liberating blessings of Shiva, we will explore letting go not solely as loss, but also as a practice of making space. When we release what is already leaving, we create room for what is ready to emerge. And in the liminal space between endings and beginnings, we can grow trust and steadiness in knowing that we are held, supported, and not walking into the unknown alone.

  • Releasing what is no longer supporting you
  • Loosening attachment to what has run its course
  • Finding steadiness through times of change and uncertainty
  • Trusting the natural rhythm of endings and beginnings
  • Invocation of Shiva through ritual and mantra
  • Teachings on Shiva, and aparigraha – the yogic practice of non-possessiveness and letting go
  • Fire ritual and offerings to release what you are ready to put down
  • Prayer and community practice for grounding and trust in the unknown
  • Prasad (sacred offering) to close and integrate
  • Anointment of activated charcoal with sacred water from the Ganges River in India

Bring what you are ready to release – and let Shiva’s fire of wisdom hold and transform it.

All are welcome.

This offering is rooted in the Vedic/Yogic lineage and Bhakti Yoga, and honours Satya’s ancestral relationship to these sacred traditions.

In ceremony, we sit in circle, we hold our intention, we chant, we pray, we offer, we surrender. Together, we hold this charged space co-creatively. We invoke and commune with very subtle sacred energies – the deities (aka: spirits/goddess/Creator – or whatever you call Source). The fire of wisdom burns away all that does not serve. Ultimately, this holy fire transforms, purifies, cleanses and heals.

Using the agency of fire inside a copper vessel, and connecting with the biodynamic rhythm of Mother Earth while we chant – the Vedic Fire Ceremony serves as a direct portal to the deities. It is one of the most ancient forms of ritual in the world, originating from Satya’s ancestral land of India some 10,000 years ago. It was channelled by rishis and seers in the high Indian Himalayas. It serves as an altar to the Divine – and a space for healing, emotional purification, karmic cleansing, and deep transformation. It is a symbol of that which we are (Satya/Truth), and that which we are not (Mitya/not-Truth). It is a ceremony that re-patterns trauma, and a sacred space where we can let go of everything that is keeping us separate, including fear and attachment. ॐ

*This ceremony is also known as agni yajna, fire puja, and havan.

Satya Amrita Kumari Jehman (Vedic Priestess Temple)

Satya Jehman (she/her) is a lineage bearer of ancient yogic teachings, rooted in the ancestral traditions and ritual practices of her homeland of India. Born and raised in an ancestor-centred culture and household on the west coast of BC, she has walked the path of yoga all her life, and deepened her formal practice over the last 25 years. She was initiated into the Sidh Kunjika Stotram, the highest call to the Sacred Divine Feminine, a yogic initiation that continues to guide her spiritual work and devotion.

Satya’s training also includes a year-long Vijnana Yoga Apprenticeship, extensive study in jnana yoga (self-inquiry/yogic philosophy) over three years in India, and initiations into the bhakti yoga practices of fire ceremony and ancestral water healing ritual. For the past 15 years, she has returned regularly to India for continued study and practice, further embodying the wisdom of her lineage.

As a facilitator and lineage carrier, Satya leads retreats, workshops, and ceremonies that honour the ancestral field, support rites of passage, and cultivate renewal, empowerment, and presence. Her work weaves asana, breathwork, mantra, mudra, storytelling, ritual, ceremony, writing, sacred art, and nature connection – to help participants connect with their lineage, release inherited patterns, and access the love, wisdom, and resilience flowing through generations.
